The Pharisees <G5330> also <G2532> with the Sadducees <G4523> came <G4334> <G5631>, and <G2532> tempting <G3985> <G5723> desired <G1905> <G5656> him <G0846> that he would shew <G1925> <G5658> them <G0846> a sign <G4592> from <G1537> heaven <G3772>.

He answered <G0611> <G5679> and said <G2036> <G5627> unto them <G0846>, When it is <G1096> <G5637> evening <G3798>, ye say <G3004> <G5719>, [It will be] fair weather <G2105>: for <G1063> the sky <G3772> is red <G4449> <G5719>.

And <G2532> in the morning <G4404>, [It will be] foul weather <G5494> to day <G4594>: for <G1063> the sky <G3772> is red <G4449> <G5719> and lowring <G4768> <G5723>. O [ye] hypocrites <G5273>, ye can <G1097> <G5719> discern <G1252> <G5721> <G3303> the face <G4383> of the sky <G3772>; but <G1161> can ye <G1410> <G5736> not <G3756> [discern] the signs <G4592> of the times <G2540>?

A wicked <G4190> and <G2532> adulterous <G3428> generation <G1074> seeketh after <G1934> <G5719> a sign <G4592>; and <G2532> there shall no <G3756> sign <G4592> be given <G1325> <G5701> unto it <G0846>, but <G1508> the sign <G4592> of the prophet <G4396> Jonas <G2495>. And <G2532> he left <G2641> <G5631> them <G0846>, and departed <G0565> <G5627>.

And <G2532> when his <G0846> disciples <G3101> were come <G2064> <G5631> to <G1519> the other side <G4008>, they had forgotten <G1950> <G5633> to take <G2983> <G5629> bread <G0740>.

Then <G1161> Jesus <G2424> said <G2036> <G5627> unto them <G0846>, Take heed <G3708> <G5720> and <G2532> beware <G4337> <G5720> of <G0575> the leaven <G2219> of the Pharisees <G5330> and <G2532> of the Sadducees <G4523>.

And <G1161> they reasoned <G1260> <G5711> among <G1722> themselves <G1438>, saying <G3004> <G5723>, [It is] because <G3754> we have taken <G2983> <G5627> no <G3756> bread <G0740>.

[Which] when <G1161> Jesus <G2424> perceived <G1097> <G5631>, he said <G2036> <G5627> unto them <G0846>, O ye of little faith <G3640>, why <G5101> reason ye <G1260> <G5736> among <G1722> yourselves <G1438>, because <G3754> ye have brought <G2983> <G5627> no <G3756> bread <G0740>?

Do ye <G3539> <G0000> not yet <G3768> understand <G3539> <G5719>, neither <G3761> remember <G3421> <G5719> the five <G4002> loaves <G0740> of the five thousand <G4000>, and <G2532> how many <G4214> baskets <G2894> ye took up <G2983> <G5627>?

Neither <G3761> the seven <G2033> loaves <G0740> of the four thousand <G5070>, and <G2532> how many <G4214> baskets <G4711> ye took up <G2983> <G5627>?

How <G4459> is it that <G3754> ye do <G3539> <G0000> not <G3756> understand <G3539> <G5719> that I spake <G2036> <G5627> [it] not <G3756> to you <G5213> concerning <G4012> bread <G0740>, that ye should beware <G4337> <G5721> of <G0575> the leaven <G2219> of the Pharisees <G5330> and <G2532> of the Sadducees <G4523>?

Then <G5119> understood they <G4920> <G5656> how that <G3754> he bade <G2036> <G5627> [them] not <G3756> beware <G4337> <G5721> of <G0575> the leaven <G2219> of bread <G0740>, but <G0235> of <G0575> the doctrine <G1322> of the Pharisees <G5330> and <G2532> of the Sadducees <G4523>.

When <G1161> Jesus <G2424> came <G2064> <G5631> into <G1519> the coasts <G3313> of Caesarea <G2542> Philippi <G5376>, he asked <G2065> <G5707> his <G0848> disciples <G3101>, saying <G3004> <G5723>, Whom <G5101> do men <G0444> say <G3004> <G5719> that I <G3165> the Son <G5207> of man <G0444> am <G1511> <G5750>?

And <G1161> they said <G2036> <G5627>, Some [say that thou art] <G3303> John <G2491> the Baptist <G0910>: <G1161> some <G0243>, Elias <G2243>; and <G1161> others <G2087>, Jeremias <G2408>, or <G2228> one <G1520> of the prophets <G4396>.

He saith <G3004> <G5719> unto them <G0846>, But <G1161> whom <G5101> say <G3004> <G5719> ye <G5210> that I <G3165> am <G1511> <G5750>?

And <G1161> Simon <G4613> Peter <G4074> answered <G0611> <G5679> and said <G2036> <G5627>, Thou <G4771> art <G1488> <G5748> the Christ <G5547>, the Son <G5207> of the living <G2198> <G5723> God <G2316>.

And <G2532> Jesus <G2424> answered <G0611> <G5679> and said <G2036> <G5627> unto him <G0846>, Blessed <G3107> art thou <G1488> <G5748>, Simon <G4613> Barjona <G0920>: for <G3754> flesh <G4561> and <G2532> blood <G0129> hath <G0601> <G0000> not <G3756> revealed <G0601> <G5656> [it] unto thee <G4671>, but <G0235> my <G3450> Father <G3962> which <G3588> is in <G1722> heaven <G3772>.

And <G1161> I say <G3004> <G5719> also <G2504> unto thee <G4671>, That <G3754> thou <G4771> art <G1488> <G5748> Peter <G4074>, and <G2532> upon <G1909> this <G5026> rock <G4073> I will build <G3618> <G5692> my <G3450> church <G1577>; and <G2532> the gates <G4439> of hell <G0086> shall <G2729> <G0000> not <G3756> prevail against <G2729> <G5692> it <G0846>.

And <G2532> I will give <G1325> <G5692> unto thee <G4671> the keys <G2807> of the kingdom <G0932> of heaven <G3772>: and <G2532> whatsoever <G1437> thou shalt bind <G1210> <G5661> on <G1909> earth <G1093> shall be <G2071> <G5704> bound <G1210> <G5772> in <G1722> heaven <G3772>: and <G2532> whatsoever <G1437> thou shalt loose <G3089> <G5661> on <G1909> earth <G1093> shall be <G2071> <G5704> loosed <G3089> <G5772> in <G1722> heaven <G3772>.

Then <G5119> charged he <G1291> <G5668> his <G0848> disciples <G3101> that <G2443> they should tell <G2036> <G5632> no man <G3367> that <G3754> he <G0846> was <G2076> <G5748> Jesus <G2424> the Christ <G5547>.

From <G0575> that time forth <G5119> began <G0756> <G5662> Jesus <G2424> to shew <G1166> <G5721> unto his <G0848> disciples <G3101>, how that <G3754> he <G0846> must <G1163> <G5748> go <G0565> <G5629> unto <G1519> Jerusalem <G2414>, and <G2532> suffer <G3958> <G5629> many things <G4183> of <G0575> the elders <G4245> and <G2532> chief priests <G0749> and <G2532> scribes <G1122>, and <G2532> be killed <G0615> <G5683>, and <G2532> be raised again <G1453> <G5683> the third <G5154> day <G2250>.

Then <G2532> Peter <G4074> took <G4355> <G5642> him <G0846>, and began <G0756> <G5662> to rebuke <G2008> <G5721> him <G0846>, saying <G3004> <G5723>, Be it far <G2436> from thee <G4671>, Lord <G2962>: this <G5124> shall <G2071> <G0000> not <G3364> be <G2071> <G5704> unto thee <G4671>.

But <G1161> he turned <G4762> <G5651>, and said <G2036> <G5627> unto Peter <G4074>, Get thee <G5217> <G5720> behind <G3694> me <G3450>, Satan <G4567>: thou <G1488> <G5748> art <G3754> an offence <G4625> unto me <G3450>: for thou savourest <G5426> <G5719> not <G3756> the things <G3588> that be of God <G2316>, but <G0235> those that be of men <G0444>.

Then <G5119> said <G2036> <G5627> Jesus <G2424> unto his <G0848> disciples <G3101>, If any <G1536> [man] will <G2309> <G5719> come <G2064> <G5629> after <G3694> me <G3450>, let him deny <G0533> <G5663> himself <G1438>, and <G2532> take up <G0142> <G5657> his <G0848> cross <G4716>, and <G2532> follow <G0190> <G5720> me <G3427>.

For <G1063> whosoever <G3739> <G0302> will <G2309> <G5725> save <G4982> <G5658> his <G0848> life <G5590> shall lose <G0622> <G5692> it <G0846>: and <G1161> whosoever <G3739> <G0302> will lose <G0622> <G5661> his <G0848> life <G5590> for <G1752> <G0000> my <G1700> sake <G1752> shall find <G2147> <G5692> it <G0846>.

For <G1063> what <G5101> is a man <G0444> profited <G5623> <G5743>, if <G1437> he shall gain <G2770> <G5661> the whole <G3650> world <G2889>, and <G1161> lose <G2210> <G5686> his own <G0848> soul <G5590>? or <G2228> what <G5101> shall a man <G0444> give <G1325> <G5692> in exchange <G0465> for his <G0848> soul <G5590>?

For <G1063> the Son <G5207> of man <G0444> shall <G3195> <G5719> come <G2064> <G5738> in <G1722> the glory <G1391> of his <G0848> Father <G3962> with <G3326> his <G0846> angels <G0032>; and <G2532> then <G5119> he shall reward <G0591> <G5692> every man <G1538> according <G2596> to his <G0846> works <G4234>.

Verily <G0281> I say <G3004> <G5719> unto you <G5213>, There be <G1526> <G5748> some <G5100> standing <G2476> <G5761> here <G5602>, which <G3748> shall <G1089> <G0000> not <G3364> taste <G1089> <G5667> of death <G2288>, till <G0302> <G2193> they see <G1492> <G5632> the Son <G5207> of man <G0444> coming <G2064> <G5740> in <G1722> his <G0848> kingdom <G0932>.
